Re: Findhorn, Scotland
Fri, November 4, 2005 - 2:57 PMI've been there and absolutely LOVED EVERY MIN OF MY EXPERIENCE! - I highly recommend it ;-) What would you like to know? other than Go! Um... do you know that for most programs (but not all) you have to have gone to "Experience Week" first - it's sort of Findhorn 101. Then there's a billion other amazing programs and opportunities that I can't wait to go back and experience. It is so worth checking out and giving as much time to your trip as possible.
There IS a website... www.findhorn.org
P.S. Gudni was involved with helping them out when they were in some financial difficulty back in the 70's or something... he used the fact that he was an icelandic baron to pull the nobility thing and get an audience with Her Magisty the Queen to ask for some financial support from the throne - which was granted. ;-) -

Re: Findhorn, Scotland
Fri, November 4, 2005 - 6:40 PMI heard about it and felt so drawn to it immediately. I’ve been studding vibrational medicine and just adore the power of flower essences. That’s the initial connection and reason to visit Finhorn. I also had a dream a few years ago about a secret garden of the earth and its resonance feel’s like this place. I’m going to England in April and I’m looking into going there so I can understand its magic! -

The Findhorn Community is in Scotland - a nation to the north of England.
Cheers,
Stephan (who lives in Findhorn)

Re: Findhorn, Scotland
Fri, December 9, 2005 - 10:44 AMi studied there for a number of months a few years ago. it is magic and it is beautiful. be open to it, there are many faces to findhorn and discovering the teachers who reside there -in all forms- is beautiful. it can be anything. many descibe it as a greenhouse for personal growth. i recommend it highly.
findhorn in ironically located directly accross a field from one of Britian's largest airforce bases and the sound of roaring jets is a constant invitation for reflection on the dualities and paradoxes that contribute so much to our world.

Re: Findhorn, Scotland
Sat, October 6, 2007 - 6:53 AMI was at Findhorn about a year ago, and enjoyed my time there. Found it fascinating and inspiring on more than one level! The community is near a traditional Scottish fishing village called Findhorn, which has existed for centuries. But the new, intentional community is made up of about 110 people of various ages - men women and children, ranging from the newly born to the elderly. All of the people who've chosen to live in the community have deep interests in the spiritual and metaphysical dimensions of life.
As you know, Findhorn is regarded as a "point of light" on our planet. There are smiling faces and friendly people all over the place. I was informed they get some 14,000 visitors from the world-over (many taking workshops) during the year. But for those who live in the community, unless they have chosen to work with visitors, there ARE quiet and private areas.
Physically in the community there is a Universal Hall (meditation and spiritually oriented performance centre), a natural-food store, a cafe, art and craft studios, an office for meeting the incoming public and doing the business of the community, a publishing house with offices and printing presses, and many very interesting and sometimes beautiful homes. Also some very nice artwork incorporated into the shared buildings, walkways, etc. There are numerous gardens - some decorative with flowers, shrubs, foliage and trees, one very large food-producing organic garden with greenhouses, and some small gardens around people's homes.
An edge of the community is sited on a bay, and that part is especially windy. Electrical power for the community is provided by some wind generators set up on towers on the nearby beach, and community waste is processed into water clean enough to drink (through a wonderful biological set-up called a Living Machine).
The community was founded on the idea of humans exploring and developing their spirituality and getting guidance from high dimensions... also communicating directly with nature spirits, and learning to work in cooperation with them. Practices have included various meditative 'inward paths', and another aspect would be an OUTREACH of joy, peace, and harmony to help the troubled world. There are shared rituals, meditations, and celebrations. But there is no doctrine that community members must adhere to, and individualism flourishes within the strong harmonious vibration in the community and its general area.
Well, this was my basic impression. I really liked the basic vibration there. Of course, it's an ongoing community of real people, so they have their challenges, meetings, debate sessions, process of decision-making, and all those gritty human realities. LOL And yet I met good (and good-humoured) people there.
Love & Light,
Tanemon

Mon, November 19, 2007 - 2:26 PMI am actually writing you from Findhorn for this post. Its my first time here but I feel like I have been here before and certainly intend on returning some day. Experience week is fantastic thus far, lots of meditations, everything seems to run on internal guidance when our group meets. Amazing people, beautiful shiney energy coming from everywhere...its a little bit of heaven and I only regret that I have only this week here. I'll write more to you later and let you know how it progresses.
Namaste,

Findhorn Decompression
Tue, December 18, 2007 - 2:47 PMHalo,
Every day I think about Findhorn. It was that powerful an experience for me to live among so many people in such a conscious fashion. I am intending, meditating and doing manifestation work on generating something like Findhorn in or around Seattle.
I was most touched and inspired by the sense of religious community I found there. I am very deeply involved in metaphysical studies and practices of all kinds and what I experienced there was so simple and profound it took me some time to really have it sink in and appreciate what they have done there.
Before we did anything...group meeting, breakfast/lunch/dinner, doing our work assignments, etc...we would walk through a process of having the group focalizer do the following:
1. Everyone gathers in a circle and joins hands. Focalizer has every one go internal and calls us all to be present in ourselves to be aware of what we are undertaking.
2. Focalizer then calls in the "aspects" (sometimes they would say angels) to aid us in the task. This was done on the fly and intuitively.
3. Focalizer then sets the intention for the outcome desired and leads us through a visualization process that also consciously touches on all the submodalities such as feeling, sound, etc to really build out the "visualized" outcome.
4. Everyone in the circle would then briefly share where they were at that point. Everyone would listen and not comment. It was simply a process to say what was up and have it be heard and therefore released.
We would repeat the process at the end and offer our love and gratitude for the experience no matter what it was.
Operationally I was VERY impressed by what they have going on as well. I have lived in cooperative type situations before but they really have taken it to a new level. Totally off the grid with their wind turbines, grow 90% of their own organic food to support @400 people, have several creative studios for pottery and such, a functional cafe and gift shop/grocery store...as well as holding concerts, producing plays and events, and having a venue for international authors and music acts to come and perform.
I really wanted to go back in Feb. to attend the ecovillage design workshop. We shall see what manifests...
I met such awesome people there, have been in very close contact with them after the experience, and miss them a lot. The whole "experience" end to end was very powerful, spiritually grounding, heart opening, etc...
The only "tip" I can give you is be present and allow the experience to sink in. It opened my heart in ways that I had not anticipated within the spectacular vessel of love and light that the community generates.
